Happy 18th Birthday MINI!
Written on 26 April 2019 by Tanya Field18 years ago today, MINI went into production. No one expected it to be the roaring success it has proved to be with nearly 4 million produced, the majority of those at MINI Plant Oxford. It has certainly been excellent for Cowley, ensuring it continued its long and interesting history of motor manufacturing.
MINI continues to be as popular as ever with a growing interest in its history. It doesn't need to hang off of the coat tails of the classic Mini, it can hold its head up high in its own right. Of course that doesn't mean the that classic Mini isn't important to it, as without the classic, MINI wouldn't be here today.
So here's to MINI at this important milestone and a nod of the head to the very first MINIs, those built back in 2001.
