MINI ONE / Cooper R50 2001 VIN Decoder
Written on 26 March 2019 by R HillThe VIN number of a car exists before its registration number and uniquely identifies the cars chassis. On a recent factory tour of the MINI Plant Oxford they spoke about how the VIN is assigned after "body in white" when the car goes from being welded together to being painted. It can be assumed this process was roughly the same in 2001.
The VIN is used by manufacturers to uniquely specify the options for the car. The colour, the wheels, the stereo to be added are all specified against the VIN. The process of VIN Decoding with a VIN Decoder is where you take the VIN, or commonly the last 7 digits of the VIN and lookup the options.
A new feature has just been added to the MINI Y Register database that allows you to decode your 2001 MINI ONE or Cooper VIN Number. Simply use the MINI Y Register Search page to find the car you are interested in and click the VIN number to decode it. You can also click the VIN number on the individual car page.
